Apple never talks about charging and battery capacity of iPhones in details but new information from the company tells us why.
Apple bringing the iPhone 15 series had people excited for multiple reasons and both of them were linked to the debut of the USB C port. Having this charging port means you can use multiple accessories and don’t need to use the ‘iPhone charger’ all the time. More importantly, having iPhone 15 with USB C means you get fast charging support.
And now Apple has shared the tips on how you can get the best charging speed for your iPhone. The interesting bit is that Apple says all the iPhones, be it the latest iPhone 15 Pro or the old iPhone 12, support the same standard and meet the charging requirement. So, when we say fast charging with respect to iPhones, what does that really mean?
Apple claims that any iPhone model starting from iPhone 8 (yes, really) gives you 50 percent battery charged in 30 minutes. Having said that, Apple has a few riders to meet this criteria and that means using an 18W charging adapter or higher. Having said that, if you have the iPhone 12 or higher model, the charging brick needs to offer 20W speed to get the same charging time for 50 percent battery.
The company also clearly states that using an ultra-fast charger means nothing when charging an iPhone as its speed is limited to the numbers advertised on Apple’s website and product catalogue.

Apple points out that fast charging on the iPhone might not work if the weather is too cold or hot. People can check what is the wattage of their iPhone’s charger which is given on the top and bottom of the adapter. The company explains that you won’t see the fast charging written on the iPhone like the way you can see that on an Android phone.
Even though Apple says the iPhones charge to 50 percent in half an hour, you might see the charging speed drop thereafter. This is basically done to keep the health of the battery intact and allow you to get more charging cycles from the battery of your iPhone.
While fast charging is available through wired charging for iPhones, you can’t say the same for iPhones charged wirelessly, which doesn’t go beyond 15W as the company points out. You also need specific wireless accessories to make the best of your iPhone’s charging limits.
