US fighter jets were scrambled when a civilian aircraft violated restricted airspace near President Joe Biden’s Delaware home, according to Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the United States Secret Service.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. (local time) north of Wilmington, Delaware, and the fighter jets were dispatched as a precaution. “As a precaution, assets were scrambled to intercept and the civilian aircraft safely landed at a nearby airport,” Guglielmi said in a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The civilian aircraft landed safely at a nearby airport, and Biden’s movements were unaffected. The Secret Service and the Federal Aviation Administration are conducting an investigation into the matter.

“There were no impacts to the protectee’s movements as a result of this incident and agents from the United States Secret Service are investigating in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration,” he added.
